Challenge: Lorrie Thomas, the brilliant marketing expert, teacher and entrepreneur, came to SiteGoals with a serious branding challenge: Create the absolute perfect identity for her new business; an online marketing company wrapped in a humorous, quirky package all dressed as a psychological therapist.
Solution: SiteGoals began by breaking down the goals and identified how each aspect of the Web Marketing Therapy vision could be represented. We wanted the logo to feel fresh and clean, while still clearly representing the overall feeling that Lorrie was establishing for her new venture. Admittedly, this was a fairly long, progressive process to find the proper balance of professionalism and playfulness. While researching some concepts, we came upon the idea of a phrenology head and felt like it represented some parallel concepts that we were searching for. We liked the idea of an offshoot of psychology (albeit a pseudo/quack science) that had a clear visual representation and had some humorous associations attached to it. Once we pursued visuals and concepts in that direction, the identity quickly fell into place. Our color inspiration came from Lorries' independent consulting company, Lorrie Thomas Web Marketing, as this was an outgrowth of that business. We chose a bold all-caps san-serif font to help offset the levity of the logo form, and created flexible color and structure usage guidelines to allow her team to apply the logo differently based upon need.
